North Carolina's first federally recognised wine region (AVA) – dozens of wineries within an easy drive.
The Yadkin Valley became North Carolina's first American Viticultural Area in 2003, and it now has dozens of wineries spread across rolling farmland west and north of Winston-Salem. Many have tasting rooms, food trucks or restaurants and live music on weekends.
How to do it
- Pick two or three wineries close together rather than trying to see them all.
- Book a driver or a wine tour for groups.
- Pair it with Pilot Mountain for a full day out.
